First of all the good news: all existing certificates such as foundation, practitioner and service manager can be used to gain the new V3 certificates. In addition, no one will be forced to take these upgrades as the current certificates remain valid.

Undoubtedly the most attractive option available at the moment is for certificated ITIL® (V2) service managers. In future they will have the option of acquiring the ITIL® V3 Expert certificate through a single, three-day upgrade course.

On the foundation level a one-day upgrade training session will be available; this will be sufficient to gain the “ITIL® V3” foundation certificate.
